Then I would go to this other class where the teacher used Power Points and the SMART board, but I didn’t get any more out of it because she wasn’t comfortable with the technology” (Screenagers 2011,) Students discussed their admiration for almost every type of technology that is used to teach. Another student stated “One of my teachers used Skype. That’s face-to-face interaction. If I had a problem with some math problem I was working on, I could take a picture of it and put it on the Skype screen. She could see where I was making my mistake. It really helped.” (Screenagers (2011)) The main point is that the teens wanted to inform their their teachers know that they truly enjoy technology and that it’s already an integral aspect of their routine however, it must be utilized properly to make them feel comfortable using it.
In the same way, they list some things they don’t like as well. On their list, they stated that they dislike using computers to read as well as paying for online textbooks in addition to the fact they tend to forget about other things as they’re caught up the use of technology.
However, they also had more positive experiences in the field of technology. For instance, they liked that teachers might send them a text message asking them to consider before class. The whole thing looked amazing but despite the spectacle, the students were in a state of confusion at the end to the class. If they had any questions, the teacher went over to the slides with the grammar rule, and gave it to students. It was clear that the PowerPoint was a duplicate of the chapter in the textbook. The same illustrations from the book were employed. After the course, the instructor felt it was a fantastic PowerPoint however it was not a meaningful. Based on the backgrounds of some students who are ELL and how they had exposure technologies in their country of origin They may not be a fan of technology initially, but this shouldn’t be an indication that they won’t come to appreciate technology. As teachers, we have to give them time to become familiar with the technology while continuing to make sure that we use it correctly in order to not promote it, or communicate information that is not relevant to the true benefits of technology.
However the article in question attests to that the present generation is driven by technology and, when properly used the students benefit from it in the classroom. There are many ways that teachers have employed technology in teaching, and these are admired by students. What is the best conclusion?
It has been proven that technology can be effective in the classroom. However, teachers should take some steps to make this tool beneficial to their students.
